Environmental science is an academic field that has many sub divisions. It combines biological and physical sciences to study the environment and find solutions to the problems faced by the environment nowadays. There are many colleges in our country that offers interested candidates with courses in Environmental science. Candidates are required to appear and pass in an entrance examination that is conducted by numerous universities and other autonomous institutions. They are chosen on the basis of their score they achieve in this exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are applying for the Environmental science course must have a pass in 10+2 with Biology as a subject. Those who are applying for the environmental engineering course should have cleared class 12 with Physics and mathematics in addition to chemistry. Students who aspire to join the B.Tech course in environmental science must have cleared their higher secondary with Mathematics and Physics. They must also have taken Chemistry as a subject.

Postgraduate Course

  • M.Sc in Environmental Science
  • M.Tech in Energy & Environment Management
  • M.Tech in Environmental Engineering
  • M.Tech in Environmental Science and Engineering
  • PG Diploma in Environment Management and Environmental Science

Eligibility Criteria

Students who want to join the M.Sc course must be graduates in the related subject. For joining the M.Tech course in energy and environment management, candidates should have a pass in B.E or B.Tech in environmental or civil engineering. Students who are applying for the PG course in Environmental Science and Engineering must have cleared their B.Tech or B.E course in environmental or civil engineering.

Career Prospects

There are numerous career opportunities available for students of environmental science. Engineers can find jobs with both the State as well as Central pollution control boards. The initial salary of graduates of Environmental science will be around Rs.15, 000 - Rs.30, 000 a month. Those who have completed their post graduation in the subject may earn as much as Rs. 35000 - Rs. 50000 each month. With a PhD, candidates will have a remuneration of approximately Rs. 50000 - Rs. 75000 each month. Professionals in the field have an income of Rs. 1 lakh every month. They can also get jobs overseas in international firms.

    After the gap of 6 yrs I’am plannnig to continue my studies
    i.e M.Sc in environmental science. I wanted to know were would i get the syllabus for entrance or the refrence books so that i can prepare for the entrance exam. Also i want to knw if the JNU have their colleges in Mumbai. And the eantrance exam dates and admission procedure

    my son is studying in 9th Std in ICSE board and have to select the subjects in Group II , for which heis planning to have Physics,Chemistry,Biology and Environment Sciences as subjects.

    Sir if he completes his 12 th for ICSE board with above subjects what are his career options for studying in India or abroad in the related field of Environment. What all degree he can do in the same field. Which are the best colleges abroad for the Environment .
