Two major Universities of India are located in the City of Imphal. They are the Central Agricultural University and the Manipur University. Central Agricultural University

The Central Agricultural University is a reputed University in Imphal which was established in the year 1993. The main objective of the University is to impart educational programs in agriculture and allied sectors. The University conducts educational courses in such a way as to improve the productivity and growth of Agriculture and related sectors in the Country. Manipur University is another pioneer University in Imphal. The University, which was, established in the year 1980 offers superior quality education and proper infrastructure to students.
