The healthcare industry comes under the priority sector of any economy. There are different academic programs in nursing; one can go with the bachelors or general or diploma or midwifery programs to find their career in this field. This program provides candidates with the basic knowledge about the profession. The program is generally of four and half years including the medical practice and the basic eligibility is higher secondary in science stream.

After the Bachelors course the higher study aspirants can also opt for the Master course in Nursing. It is basically a two years program and one can continue with the study path with the M Phill or Doctors program in the nursing. There are many Diploma courses available for the aspirants after the graduation in this field. According to the survey Kerala and Rajasthan top the list of number of people are in the nursing profession. The further job opportunities and lucrative salary package attracts many more into this profession.

A large number of doors are open for the nursing graduates. They can have jobs in hospitals in different departments like surgery, rehabilitative care, emergency, casualty etc. As the medical sector is in its growth stage and the number of hospitals increase every year, it provides a larger opportunity path for the nursing candidates. The candidates shouldn’t be a person who work on a specified time frame since this profession may need shift working and working late. The candidates should be willing to take up challenges and responsibilities. An effective professional in the Nursing field should have a good team spirit, managerial capability, a genuine compassionate nature and tactful behavior.

Pay Package and Future Opportunities

The salary structure of the Nurses varies according to their experience, area of work and expertise and also depends on the sector. A fresher in this field can expect a salary ranging from 1.2-2.4lakhs/annum. But if you are opting to serve in the international healthcare industry or going abroad, you will be paid for your working hours. But the professionals must be very careful about their working contracts and other details about their visa while opting for the foreign countries. It seems like that for the qualified professional in the nursing field, salary doesn’t have any limits.

The National Skill Development Council (NSDC) announces that there will be a huge gap in the demand for the qualified professionals in this sector, but the supply of the talents is not reaching near to the demand. It is expected that around a 9 million nurses will be added to the healthcare industry within the next few years.

This is just an overview about the nursing field. The opportunity and career prospects of this area are still so huge. Once the people used to consider nursing profession as something not suitable for those belonging to the middle and upper classes society. But today there is not such aversion and people from different social background towards this. But the candidates must take care of the college credentials and certificate validity while pursuing your course. There are many fake institutes and they are taking the advantage of demand for the program. So beware of such institutes and people, you just take the competitive exams and thereby make sure of your admission into the world of opportunities…
