Design is the practice of creating or executing a plan in an artistic way. A Design can be a shape, a pattern or a model. Master of Design is a Post Graduate educational Degree. The degree awarded for a program in the area of Design. M.Des is a shortened form of Master of Design. The program promotes design thinking and communicates a broad prospective towards the ideas of future and this program focuses mainly on project work.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Des

Masters Degree in Design needs a full time bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in any design discipline. Some of the eligible streams are like Fashion / Textiles / Accessories / Graphics / Communication). In addition, some other streams like B.A. (Fine Arts), B.Sc. (Textiles & Clothing), B.Tech (Textiles) or Design Diploma from NIFT / NID. There is an all India entrance exam named CEED carried out by IIT. After clearing the test, aspirants can attend the interview.

Remuneration after M.Des

There is a good demand for designers as more and more companies are entering this field. Many opportunities are waiting for those who finish the M.Des course. Chances are available in the self-employment area also. The pay scale is very attractive. Sometimes the payment is based on the designs they make. The starting remuneration of a designer is between Rs.5000 to Rs.8000. Well experienced designers will get Rs.50, 000 to Rs.75,000 every month.
