Health & Family Welfare Department of the Delhi Government has great health care responsibilities and the department meets the health care needs of nearly 160 lakh population of the ever-growing metropolis.

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi has invited applications from eligible candidates on contract basis for the position of Medical Officer to work in different institutions and hospitals working under the Department of Health & Family Welfare of the government.

Name of the Vacancy: Medical Officer

Number of Vacancies: Total number of Vacancies is 346, which is divided among the different categories as follows:

UR – 177

SC – 51

ST – 25

OBC – 93

Of the total number of vacancies, 11 posts are reserved for physically handicapped candidates

Period of Contract: the period of appointment will be for one year or until the post is filled on regular basis by the Union Public Service Commission.

Pay Scale: Remuneration fixed for the contract period is Rs.53000 per month

Eligibility requirements:

Educational qualification: To apply to the position of medical officer, candidates must have MBBS qualification with compulsory rotating internship. Even candidates without internship completion certificate can apply; however, they will have to complete the internship if they are selected for the post and candidates should also have registered with the Delhi Medical Council before appointment.

Age: Candidates should not be more than 32 years of age on the last date of receipt of applications. Upper age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per central government rules.

Mode of Selection:

Candidates will be selected for the post of medical officer based on their performance in the written test and tentative date of written test is 18th of September 2011 at 11:00 am and the venue of the test will be intimated to the candidates through admit cards, which will be dispatched by speed post between 2nd and 7th of September 2011. If a candidate has not received the admit card, he/she can get the copy of the card on 15th and 16th of September from Room No.114 of the academic section of MAMC, New Delhi.

Application fee:

The cost of application is Rs.1500 for general category candidates, Rs.750 for SC/ST candidates. This amount should be paid through bank draft drawn in any scheduled bank in favor of the Dean, Maulana Azad Medical College. Candidates should write their name and address on the reverse side of the DD.
