Software Technology Parks of India was established in the year 1991 as a government agency in the country. STPI comes under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The major objective behind the establishment of the STPI was to have an export oriented scheme for the development and export of computer software. STPI also provides physical hosting for the National Internet Exchange of India.
