M.Sc (Applied Nutrition) is one among the PG level courses offered at National Institute of Nutrition (affiliated to Dr.NTR.University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada). Graduates in subjects like Nutrition, Home Science, Nursing and Medicine can seek admission to the course. Admissions are done on the basis of entrance test, comprising of questions on Nutrition, Biochemistry, Physiology and Microbiology.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc (Applied Nutrition) in National Institute of Nutrition

Candidates having completed bachelor’s degree in medicine (MBBS) either from the University of Andhra Pradesh or from any other recognized Indian Universities are eligible. Apart from this, candidates with any of the following qualifications are also eligible to apply.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition
  • Bachelor of Science in Home Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Upper age limit for pursing the course is 50 years. SC/ST candidates can have 3 year relaxation in the upper age limit.

Admission Procedure for M.Sc (Applied Nutrition) in National Institute of Nutrition

Total intake capacity for the course is 16. Out of this limited number of 16 seats, 6 are reserved for applicants of Andhra Pradesh. Rest of the seats is reserved for Indian students outside the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Selection of suitable candidates is done on the basis of an entrance test conducted at Dr. NTR. University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. The entrance test is conducted in objective model of 100 numbers. Maximum time allotted for answering the test is 90 minutes.

Medium of the test is English and questions are asked from the following topics.

  • Biochemistry
  • Microbiology
  • Nutrition
  • Physiology

There will be 40 questions from the sections of Nutrition. Biochemistry and Physiology sections carry 25 questions each. Rest of the 10 questions (out of 100) is asked from the section of Microbiology.

Each candidate need to score at least 40 marks to qualify the entrance test. SC and ST candidates are required to score 30 marks only.

The University will not conduct any entrance test, if the number of applications received is less than the number of seats. In such cases admissions are done on the basis of qualifying exam marks.

Applications for attending the entrance test can be collected from the exam prospectus. Exam prospectus can be downloaded from the web portal of National Institute of Nutrition. Filled up application form must be sent to the address of the University. This must be accompanied with application processing fee of Rs. 500/-, taken in the form of Demand Draft from any of the nationalized banks.
