Newton International Fellowships selects Post-Doctoral researchers from all over the world and offer them support for 2 years at UK research Institutions. The scheme is established by British Academy , The Royal Academy of Engineering , The Royal Society. Newton fellowships cover various disciplines of natural and social sciences, engineering as well as humanities. The candidates must have a strong research project and a UK sponsor.

The Organization has managed to be recognized for been one of the most elite Institutes that offer the support to the candidates that are undertaking the course of Post-Doctoral researches. The Organization covers the needs of different individual that have undertaken the degree in any of the discipline. The candidates are relived with a specified amount of fellowships that enable them to acquire huge amount of advantage in the different stages of completion of the course. Furthermore, the organization has managed to provide a stipend of specified amount to the candidates as they are acquiring and completing their course in the International soil. The selection procedure is solely the decision of the organization and that he final decision lies on the hand of the committee.

50 fellowships are awarded each year and the period of fellowship is 2 years in which the selected candidates receive a fellowship of £24,000 subsistence and £8,000 research expenses per annum, and £2,000 relocation expenses. Those who remain in research will be granted 10 year follow-up funding of £6000 per annum.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must have either completed PhD or should be in the final stage of completing it so that they can start it before the fellowship starts.

• Applicants must have only one post doctoral positions and this should not exceed more than one or two in any case.

• Applicants must not be a UK citizen and should be working anywhere but not in UK.

• Applicants must have a research project which is not only strong and beneficial but also orthodox. Along with that applicants should also have a UK based Sponsor to sponsor the project

• Applicants must be competent in Oral and written English.

While selecting candidates for fellowships following are the considerations while selecting the candidates:

• Academic research background of the Applicant

• Quality of the proposed research project

• Expected benefits for the career development of the Applicant

• Track record of the UK Sponsor/host organization in the area of proposed research

• Suitability of the UK Sponsor/host organization for the research project

• Additional benefits for the UK Sponsor/host organization.

How to Apply:

Candidates have to apply online through Royal Society’s Electronic Grant Application and processing (e-GAP2) system. Candidate can do this by registering at the website e-gap.royalsociety.org. The candidates can avail to the following website to perceive more about the test. The application form can directly be downloaded from the link and forwarded back. The registration is absolutely free of cost and that no post payment of any sort is required. The candidates can be called for an interview at a place that may be foreign to them.
