Assam Rifles received its present name in the year 1917 only even though it was functioning from the year 1835. Before it was offered with the present name, it underwent a lot of changes right from its inception during the British Period.

Recruitment by Assam Rifles:

Assam Rifles has decided to conduct a recruitment rally in Dimapur and Guwahati in Nagaland and Assam respectively for recruitment of male candidates from different states and the recruitment rally is planned to be conducted on the 14th of September.

Eligibility Requirement:

Educational Qualification: For the position of Junior Commissioned Officer, candidates must have completed their matriculation or equivalent examination from a recognized university or board and diploma in civil engineering or bridge and road from a recognized institution.

Age: Minimum age requirement is 18 years and maximum age is 23 years for both the positions as on the 1st of August 2011. Upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates.

Cost of Application:

The cost of application of Rs. 50 (not applicable to SC/ST candidates) should be paid in the form of DD drawn in favor of Directorate General, Assam Rifles payable at SBI DGAR, Shillong.
