An online entrance test is conducted for admission to UG courses and PG courses like MBA, MCA and M.Sc (Biotechnology). GATE/GPAT score is used for admission to M.Tech/M.Pharm courses and selection to Ph.D courses is done on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the University itself.

Vellore Institute of Technology conducts VITMEE for admissions to its M.Tech and MCA programmes. Syllabus of VITMEE (ECE) exam for admission to M.Tech in Electronics and Communication covers key topics studied in the B.Tech course.
Directorate of Higher Education (Assam) conduct Assam Joint Admission Test (MBBS) every year for the intake of eligible candidates to the MBBS course. This is held for the candidates who have completed their intermediate course without any backlogs. Both objective and subjective type questions will be asked in this MBBS entrance examination. Candidates can apply for this exam by procuring application form from the centres specified by Directorate of Higher Education. Application fee will be specified in the notification published before the exam.
