Normally in Government organizations in India, Private Secretaries are appointed in two different pay brands. One position is known as private secretary and the other position is known as Principal Private Secretary. The pay scale for these positions is:

Principal Private Secretary – Rs. 15600-39100 with grade pay of Rs. 6600

Private Secretary – Rs. 9300-Rs.34800 with a grade pay of Rs. 4800

What is the educational qualification required for the post of Private Secretary?

For the position of Private secretary in Government organizations, candidates must have completed their degree course in any discipline with a speed of 120 words per minute in English Stenography. In addition, some organizations require that the candidates must have completed their higher grade in stenography in the local language and knowledge of computer applications. Even some organizations require that candidates must have completed their typewriting higher in English and in local language.

Should the candidate possess any experience for applying to the post of Private Secretary?

Yes, most of the government organizations require that the candidates must have the experience of working as a stenographer or personal assistant in any state or central government organizations for a period of five years in the pay scale of Rs. 5000-8000 or three years working experience in the pay scale of Rs. 5500-9000.

What the maximum age limit to apply for the position of Private Secretary?

Most of the government organizations calling for experienced private secretaries require that the candidates must not be more than 56 years of age.

What are the different methods of recruitment followed by government organizations for the position of Private Secretary?

Three methods of recruitment are followed by government organizations for appointing candidates for the post of Private Secretary and they are direct recruitment, recruitment by promotion and recruitment through deputation or transfer.

    what are the opportunity for me either any best course or any job, I am graduated in BA Pass(English Literature, Sociology & Political Science)within 52% marks and Post Graduated in English Literature within 49% marks?

    Some of the Govt. Bodies are paying Grade Pay for Private Secretary is Rs.4800/ and Rs.4600/- respectively. Please clarify, why this different?

    The pay scale of Private Secretaries in the subordinate
    offices of Govt. of India has been down graded. Is the
    Govt. thinking to upgrade the pay scale of private
    secretaries at par with those who are working in the
    Ministries. Please let me know becuase it is question of
    desperation for all those who are working in the subordinate
    offices.
