Pay Scale for Steno-Typist in Government Jobs
As the name of the position implies, the work of a steno-typist is to take up dictation of letters and other correspondences like agenda and minutes of a meeting and transcribing it into word documents either with the help of a typewriting machine or a computer. Even though, nowadays many private organizations do not have this position, government organizations still recruit candidates for the position of Steno-typist.
Pay scale offered for this position in government organization in India is Rs.5200-20200 plus a grade pay of Rs. 2400 and Rs. 2600 in some organizations. Even these personnel are appointed at the pay scale of Rs. 5910-20200 with grade pay of Rs. 2000. In case candidates are appointed under contract basis for this position, they will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 10000.

Educational and other Qualification needed for the position of Steno-typist in Government jobs:
Candidates must be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university and they should also have proficiency in working with spread sheets and word documents. They should have completed their lower grade in stenography with 80 words per minute and they should also have completed their typewriting examination and should have a speed of 20 words per minute. Even some government organizations require that candidates must have typewriting skill in the local regional language. Candidates must be between the age group of 18 and 28 years of age to apply for the position of steno-typist in government jobs.
