Periodontology is a sub division of Dental medicine that is concerned with the study of gums, cementum, and associated tooth supporting structures. Qualifying Exam

In order to become a Periodontologist, individuals have to study the BDS program along with internship from a recognized Dental School. Thereafter, candidates have to pursue the Masters’ program in Dental Surgery and take a specialization in Periodontology. These professionals should also pass a certification test to work as a licensed Periodontologist. Professionals working in the field, deals with patients suffering from gum swelling, bacterial, and fungal infections of the tooth supporting structures and bones. Periodontologists mostly work with dental hospitals, health care departments, nursing centers, consultancies, old-age homes, medical institutes, research laboratories and so on. Most of them carry out private practice, as it is more profitable.

Who is eligible to apply?

The eligibility criterion to apply for the graduation program in Dental Surgery is a pass in the intermediate exam in Science streams taking Biology as a subject. Aspirants are required to have finished the XII from a recognized Board or University. They should also attend the MBBS / BDS entrance exam to get admissions for the BDS course in medical or dental institutes.
