Eligibility

A medical graduate or a diploma holder in medical sector is eligible for this post diploma course in geriatric medicine. There is no age bar but a strict selection procedure is maintained for admission. The admission is based on the merit of the candidate which is decided on the basis of marks scored in graduation and year of experience.

Course Outlook

The 1 year post graduate diploma in Geriatric Medicine is offered to upgrade the knowledge of the candidates on geriatric medicine, inculcate disciplinary approach in diagnosing and curing the problem, and improvement of skills by undergoing first hand training. The candidate is generally evaluated on the basis of practical and theory with more emphasis on practical experience and performance. The syllabus consists of self-instructional print material (called blocks) audio-video cassettes, telecast, broadcast, teleconferencing and radio-counseling.

A post graduate diploma holder in geriatric medicine is given better positions and offers in medical clinics, government and private medical hospitals and nursing homes.
