Himachal Pradesh University was established in the year 1970 under Government of Himachal Pradesh, Government of India. The university has an urban campus and is affiliated to University Grants Commission. Urmila Singh ( Governor of Himachal Pradesh ) is the Chancellor of the university while Professor ADN Bajpai is on the position of Vice Chancellor. The university is located at Shimla. The university actually came into existence as a premier institution of teaching and research in the country. The university was established under an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
