National Institute of Oceanic Technology was formed in the year 1993 under the jurisdiction of Government of India. Dr. M. A. Ahmad is the Director of the institute. The parent agency of the institute is Ministry of Earth Sciences. The institute has its headquarter located at Chennai. The institute actually came into existence as an autonomous society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The main aim of the institute is to develop scientific understanding of oceans. The institute is running various programs such as Deep Sea mining, Energy & Fresh Water, National Data Buoy Programme etc.

Applications are invited from eligible and qualified candidates for filling up the following vacant posts of Project Scientific Assistant, project Technicians, Research Assosciate, Senior Research Fellow and Junior Research Fellow in National Institute of Oceanic Technology.

1. Recruitment of Project Scientific Assistant:
No. of posts: Only 63 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates are required to have done Diploma in concerned Engineering discipline or equivalent from a recognized board or institutions. Candidates should have passed Diploma with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Knowledge of Computers is also desirable for the post.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 27300-30400 per month.

2. Recruitment of Project Technicians:
No. of posts: Only 37 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates are required to have done ITI in concerned discipline or equivalent from a recognized board or institutions. Knowledge of Computers is also desirable for the post.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 14200-15800 per month.

3. Recruitment of Research Associate:
No. of posts: Only 2 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates are required to have done Doctorate in concerned discipline or equivalent. Candidates with minimum 3 years experience in research, teaching and design and development after M.E. or M.Tech, are also eligible to apply.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 22000 per month.

4. Recruitment of Senior Research Fellow:
No. of posts: Only 16 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Post Graduate degree in concerned discipline or equivalent with minimum 60% marks in aggregate and atleast 2 years experience in relevant field, is required for the post.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 18000 per month.

5. Recruitment of Junior Research Fellow:
No. of posts: Only 8 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess Post Graduation Degree in concerned discipline or equivalent with minimum 60% marks in aggregate.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 16000 per month.
