Radiologic technologists perform various imaging techniques on patients to diagnose their diseases. They also treat patients through healing techniques like radiotherapy. They are also known as radiographers. Various imaging techniques like CT scan, X-ray, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy are there to diagnose any disease in a patient. Qualifying Exam

Radiologic technologists need Bachelor of Science degree in Radiography to practice in any health care organization. Candidates who wish to become Radiologic technologists can also do Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography, Radiotherapy or Imaging technology. Bachelor of Science degree in Radiography is a three year course deals with all the major concepts related to this field. Diploma courses are two year courses with compulsory practical training. There are also one year certificate courses available in Radiography.

Who are eligible to apply?

Candidates who want to join degree or diploma course in radiography should pass plus two with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology. They should also possess minimum fifty percent marks in plus two. Only those candidates who qualify the entrance test of the concerned authority can join degree or diploma course in Radiography. Candidates who wish to do one year certificate course in Radiography need only pass marks in plus two.

They should possess good observational skills as they are diagnosing the disease using various imaging techniques. They should be able to make accurate judgment about the disease. As the radiotherapy deals with the use of radiation, it is the responsibility of the Radiologic technologists to educate the patients about the therapy. They should possess good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with the patients. Sometimes Radiologic technologists may need to work twenty four hours a day. In this case, they should be able to withstand the pressure obtained from their work.
