Railway Technical Cadre Exam, RTCE, is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board every year for filling the various technical vacancies arise in India’s largest public entity.  The exam is conducted on the national basis for the potential young candidates for Indian Railway. A large number of candidates are taking this exam on the priority basis.

Structure

The RTCE exam normally consists of three stags, the written Exam, skill test and Psychological test. The written exam is of objective type with one and half hours duration. Some times the RRB board conducts the written exam in two stages, Preliminary and the main exam, if the number of applicants is large. The written exam is followed by the skill test and psychological test (but not necessary for every post). After these selection processes the eligible candidates are called for a medical examination and the final rank list is formed based upon the medical exam results.

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum education qualification required is the Graduation in any for the following Engineering Streams-

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical Engineering
  • Telecom and Signaling Engineering etc

The requirement varies according to the post. The minimum age limit is 18 and 27 is the upper age limit set of the RTCE exam.

How to Apply?

The recruitment notification comes in the employment news or in all the major dailies. The notification usually prescribes the application form; the aspirants can use the same or can use a typed one as in the suggested format. They can also download the same from the official website. The aspirants should send the filled form along with the needed documents and the DD of the required amount. Take care of the closing dates and send the application form before the deadline.

How to fill the Form?

The application should be filled by the individual in own handwriting. The information given should be correct and should match with your official records. Before filling the form you should carefully read out the notification details and the eligibility criteria. Only after understanding the requirements, you have to start filling the form. Paste the recent photo in required size wherever necessary. Double check the filled form and make sure it is error free. Keep a copy of the filled form for the future reference. After filling the application send to the given address before the last date.

Study Plan

The exam is conducted on the national basis and a well structured study plan will help you score high in the exam. Besides your knowledge in the subjective part, you should be well prepared in the analytical, reasoning as well as the General awareness and English sections too.

Reading English newspapers will help you to improve your knowledge on the current affairs. There are books in analytic and reasoning part; you can refer those while preparing for the exam. The coaching centers and combined study will also help you to get a good score in the examination. You should also take practice on the skill test pat and practice for the Psychological test.

How and Where To Get the Results?

After the result is published the candidates will get their individual rank in the official RRB portal. To get the detailed result the candidates can enter their roll number and DOB in the preferred column.

Score Validity

The RTCE score is normally valid for one year, until the vacancies are filled. Sometimes it will be valid up to the next exam.
