Recruitment of Clerks in Punjab and Haryana High Courts

Applications are invited for the post of clerks in Punjab and Haryana High courts. Graduation in any discipline is the minimum educational qualification. Candidates who fall in the age group of 18-30 years are only eligible. Selection procedure includes written test, typing test and viva voce. Application fee is Rs. 300/-.
Eligibility Criterion

Educational Qualification: Candidates who have completed graduation in Arts/ Science/ Commerce subjects from any institute recognized by UGC are eligible to apply for this post. In addition to this, they should have proficient knowledge in computer operation such as word processing as well as spread sheets.

Age Restrictions: Those who have completed at least 18 years of age at the time of application are only eligible to apply. Upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years as on the last date of application. Those who are belonging to Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled caste are eligible to claim relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years. Candidates who are physically challenged can seek relaxation up to 10 years.

Selection Procedure: Recruitment to the post of clerks is carried out on the basis of marks obtained in written examination. There will be objective type test of multiple choice questions in the examination. Candidates can expect a maximum of 200 questions. Each question carries one mark. There will be negative marking for wrong answer. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Candidates will be given a maximum of 120 minutes for answering all questions. Questions will be asked from the following topics.

  • General Knowledge
  • Numerical Ability
  • General English
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Clerical Aptitude
  • General Intelligence
  • General Awareness

Those who have cleared the written examination will be short listed for main written examination. This exam will contain descriptive questions for a maximum of 300 marks. Of these, questions for 150 marks will be asked from English Composition and rest of the questions will be asked from General Knowledge, Precis Writing and Hindi or Punjabi. Each section contains questions for 50 marks. Candidates are required to secure at least 40% marks in aggregate and 33% marks for each subject so as to be eligible. Eligible candidates will be short listed for computer typing test and viva voce. Those who have qualified typing test of 30 words per minute in English will be called for viva voce. Maximum marks allotted for typing test and viva voce is 50.
Application Procedure
Eligible candidates are required to apply in the prescribed application form which can be obtained from sales counters of High court against cash payment of Rs.300/-. Reserved category candidates are required to pay only Rs.150/-. Fully filled in applications should be super scribed with “Request for Application form for the Post of Clerk”. Late and incomplete applications will be rejected without intimation.
