Assam Public Service Commission shortly called as APSC came into existence in the year 1937. The commission consists of a chairman and six other members and all the members of the commission are appointed by the Governor of Assam. It makes recruitment and also recommend candidates for direct recruitment for different services of the government of Assam.

Assam Public Service Commission has called for applications from eligible candidates for the position of Registrar/Resident Physician and the details regarding the notification issued by the commission of this position is given below

Name of the Vacancy: Registrar/Resident Physician

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 52, which is divided among different department for which this position is going to be filled as follows:

• Dentistry – 03 (OC-01, STP-01, SC-01)

• Oncology – 01 (OC)

• Paediatric Surgery – 01 (OC)

• Endocrinology – 02 (OC-01, STP-01)

• Nephrology – 01 (OC)

• Cardiology – 03 (OC-01, STH-01, OBC/MOBC – 01)

• TB & Chest – 05 (OC-03, STH-01, OBC/MOBC – 01)

• Medicine (including one TID and ICU/Emergency) – 21 (OC-10, STP-02, STH-01, SC-01 and OBC/MOBC – 07)

• Psychiarty – 05 (OC-03, OBC/MOBC-02)

• Paediatrics (including ICU/Emergency) – 10 (OC-05, STP – 01, STH-01, SC-01, OBC/MOBC-02)

Pay Brand: Candidates will be appointed in the pay band of Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.6000 per month plus other allowances admissible under rules.

Eligibility requirements:

Educational qualification: Educational qualification required for each of the department is given below:

• Dentistry – MDS

• Oncology – MD in Medicine/paediatrics/radiology/radiotherapy/O & G or MS in orthopaedics/ENT/Surgery

• Paediatric Surgery – MS in Surgery

• Endocrinology – MD in Medicine

• Nephrology – MD in Medicine

• Cardiology – MD in Medicine

• TB & Chest – MD in Tuberculosis/TB & respiratory disease/medicine/TB & Chest Disease

• Medicine (including one TID and ICU/Emergency) – MD in Medicine

• Psychiatry – MD in Psychiatry

• Paediatrics (including ICU/Emergency) – MD in Paediatrics

Candidates, who have appeared for their final PG examination in the year 2011 and waiting for results can also apply, however, these candidates should furnish the PG passed certificate to the Secretary, Assam Public Service Commission immediately after publishing of results by the concerned university.

Age: Candidates must be between the age group of 21 and 38 years as on 1st of January 2011 and upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Process of recruitment:

Recruitment shall be made based on the marks secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination and on the basis of their performance in the written test, which will be notified in due course.

Application fee:

Application fee should be paid in the form of original treasure challan for Rs.5 (Rs.2.5 for SC/ST candidates).
