Indian Air force invites applications from female citizens for courses commencing to different branches of flying, technical and ground duty. Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted for selection process. The entrance examination comprises of multiple choice questions from subjects like reasoning, GK, military aptitude, verbal ability and numerical ability. Duration of the test is 2 hours. On qualifying this exam, candidates need to attend three further stages of screening process to confirm their final selection. 

Selection Procedure for AFCAT (Women) 2013

Candidates who fulfill all the educational and physical qualifications are short listed for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). Duration of the test is 2 hours. The entrance examination include multiple choice questions from the following subject areas -

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Numerical Ability
  • Verbal Ability
  • General Awareness
  • Military Aptitude

Those candidates, who got selected in AFCAT, will be selected for further selection process at any one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs) such as Gandhinagar, Dehradun, Varanasi and Mysore. Further selection process is conducted in three different stages –

  • Stage 1 – This stage consist of intelligence testing. In this stage, candidates need to undergo document check, in order to verify whether they meet with the specific eligibility mentioned for a specific post. It is compulsory for candidates to clear this stage of testing and disqualified candidates at this level are exempted from further stages of selection process.
  • Stage 2 – The second stage comprise of psychological testing followed by group test and Personal interview. The stage 2 process will mainly be a 4 day process.
  • Stage 3 - For flying branch, a separate Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT), will be conducted for the eligible candidates. On qualifying the following selection stages, candidates need to attend Personal Interview. Medical Examination will be organized for final selected candidate list prepared by AFSBs. Such candidates are subjected for medical examination to check their physical ability.  Medically fit candidates need to undergo further training.

Application Procedure for AFCAT (Women) 2013

As part of the application procedure, candidates need to log in to the IAF website. An online application procedure needs to be followed for applying for this exam. Candidates must enter all specific details correctly while filling the application forms. It is also compulsory for candidates to attach relevant educational documents and passport size photograph along with online application form. After submitting application forms successfully, candidates will be given a login ID. The login ID should be kept safe for future usage.
