Western Railway came into existence in its present form in the year 1951 on the 5th of November by the merger of the central, Boroda and Bombay Indian Railway with other state railways namely Jaipur, Rajputana and Saurashtra.

Recruitment by Western Railway:

Western Railway has invited application from sports personnel for Group C and Group D positions and the details regarding the notification are given below:

Name of the Positions: Group C and Group D posts

Number of Posts: Total number of vacancies is 26, which is divided among Group C and Group D as follows:

• Group C – 03

• Group C – 09

• Group D - 14

Pay Scale: Pay scale for Group C and Group D positions for sports personnel will be as follows:

• Group C – Rs.5200-20200 Grade Pay of Rs.2400/2800

• Group C – Rs.5200-20200 Grade Pay of Rs.1900/2000

• Group D – Rs.5200-20200 Grade Pay of Rs.1800

Eligibility requirements:

Educational qualification: For the first Group C position, candidates must be graduates and for the second Group C and Group D candidates must be minimum SSLC/Matriculate.

Age Requirement: The minimum age requirement for all three positions is 18 years and maximum age limit is 25 years as on the 01st of Jan 2012.

Selection Process:

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirements will be called for trail and those who prove to be fit in the trial will only be called for interview.

Examination Fee:

For the first position coming under the grade pay of Rs.2400/2800, the examination fee is Rs.60, while for the other two positions it is Rs.40 and this fee should be paid in the form of postal order drawn in favor of Western Railway Sports Association, Mumbai.
