Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in the district of Kalady was laid to foundation in the year of 1993 besides the banks of the river Poorna in the state of Kerala. This famous university has been founded under the name of the greatest philosopher of all times Sree Sankaracharya. The university was setup with the primary aim of imparting quality knowledge and enriching the teachings with the most vast Indian culture and heritage. This is the reason that the university primarily offers courses that are related directly to the Indian history, culture and lifestyle.

The other aim of the university is towards the preservation of the manuscripts and publications belonging to the Indian culture.

Centers of the university:

The university today has a spread of 9 centers in the state of Kerala that are fully functional in all respects. These centers are situated in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram- the capital city of Kerala, Ettumanoor, Kalady- the administration main campus of the university, Thrissur, Panmana etc.

All these centers offer different courses and help towards the main aim collectively.

Also to be noticed is the achievement that the university has received in the recent time. The Kerala Kalamandalam, which is the internationally known center for the classical arts and heritage of the state of Kerala has recognized the university and has agreed to promote it.

Courses Offered:

• Under graduate courses: a degree of B.A. in Core language of Sanskrit, Music, Dance mainly Bharathanattyam and Mohiniyattam and Paintings and Murals.

• The post graduate degrees are offered in the areas of all regional languages, history, Vedic studies, psychology, theatre, dance, music etc

• Post Graduate Diploma is offered in two branches that are Tourism & Hindi translation.

• The university also runs Integrated M.Phil/PhD programs.

Admissions

The admissions to the university are through an entrance examination conducted by the university itself. The brochure is released by the university before every examination for any domain of the courses offered.
