Punjab Police emerged as a separate entity from the year 1861 and with more than 150 years of existence, the police force of the state of Punjab faced several difficulties mainly because of the inherent martial traditions prevailing in the state.

Recruitment by Punjab Police:

Punjab Police has invited applications from eligible male candidates for the position of Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police (District Cadre). The details regarding the notification issued for the position are given below:

Name of the Position: Sub-Inspector (Male)

Number of Posts: Total number of vacancies is 120, which is divided among the different categories as follows:

Sub-Inspector (Male) – 120

o FF - 01

o BC - 14

o SC/ST – 29

o General – 76

Out of the 120 posts, 03 posts will be reserved for sportsmen and these personnel will be recruited by a separate board.

Pay Scale: Candidates will come under the Pay Brand of Rs.10300-34800 + GP of Rs.3600.

Eligibility requirements:

Educational qualification: Candidates must be graduates as on the 01st of January 2011 or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized university. It is compulsory that candidates must have studied Punjabi as a compulsory subject at their matriculation level.

Selection Process:

Candidates must fulfill the physical measurement requirement of a minimum height of 5 feet and 7 inches, they should get through the physical efficiency test once they fulfill the physical measurement requirements. In the Physical Efficiency test, they will have to cover 1600 meter race in 7 minutes (one chance), long jump of 3.80 meters (three chances) minimum and high jump of 1.15 meters (three chances) minimum. For ex-servicemen who are more than 35 years of age, they should completed 1400 meters race in 12 minutes (one chance) and minimum 10 sit-ups should be done. Candidates getting through the Physical Efficiency Test, will have to take up written test, which will be conducted for 100 marks and candidates getting minimum 50% of Marks (45% for reserved category) in this test will be called for interview, which will be conducted for 15 marks.

Application Fee:

Candidates will have to take a DD for an amount of Rs.500 (Rs.300 for reserved category candidates) in favor of the Chairman, Recruitment Board for Sub-Inspector (District Cadre) payable at Chandigarh before applying for the post online.

How to apply:

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirements will have to apply online through the website of CDAC http://recruitment.cdacmohali.in/ by clicking on the link Recruitment of Sub-Inspector for Punjab Police (District Cadre) between 1st August and 16th August and they should fill in the details regarding the DD in the online application form. After applying online, two copies of the application along with registration number should be printed and one copy to be sent with original DD and self-attested photograph to the following address:
