Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) was established in the year 1995. The authority came into existence for the development of balanced urban growth in Punjab. The mission of the authority is to create unique settlements catering to the social, residential,   commercial and industrial needs of the people in Punjab.

The primary objectives of the authority are to promote and secure better planning and development of any area of Punjab. The Chairman of the authority is the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Government of Punjab.

The Vice Chairman of the authority is the Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development, Government of Punjab. The Chief Administrator of the authority is an IAS Officer and Ex-officio Secretary to the Government of Punjab.
