Dr. Shakuntala Misra Rehabilitation University was established in 2008 by an Ordinance Act. The university was replaced by an Independent Act in 2009.The university aims to provide quality education to physically challenged children. The most interesting feature of the university is that it offers education in an entirely barrier-free environment. The primary aim of the university is to serve the physically challenged students of the society by reserving minimum 50% seats in all courses of the University. It also allocates seats to normal students under the normal reservation policy. The objectives of the University are to facilitate & promote studies, research & extension work in the emerging areas together with rehabilitation courses, engineering/technology, community based/ psychology rehabilitations, etc. The University also works hard to develop a sense of responsibility in the minds of students and research scholars to serve society in the field of disability by developing skills in regard to special education, vocational and general education.
