The Tata Institute of Social Sciences started its journey in the year 1936 as Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work which was the first school of social work in India. The institute was regulated and maintained by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The Institute offers a number of postgraduate programs to the students in order to build their future aspects. This is the only business institute in India which has a tie-up with Society of Human Resources Management.
Infrastructure:
The institute is situated in a lush green area and has well maintained campus that accommodates various generalized facilities for its students. The campus has well stocked library which includes 1,03,000 volumes of books, journals and over 1,600 audio-visual materials.
Courses Offered:
The institute offers various master level courses to the students like Master in Hospital Administration, Public Health, Globalisation and Labour, Human Resources Management & Labour Relations, Social Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, Education (Elementary), Disability Studies and Action, Social Work, Media and Cultural Studies, Disaster Management, Habitat Policy & Practice and Counseling.
Admission Procedure:
Students applying for these courses under this institute need to qualify the Aptitude Test and also have to clear a Group Discussion & Personal Interview. For appearing in these course candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from any of the recognized university of India.
Placement:
The students are well trained before their final year exams and have been placed in various national and multinational companies like Wipro, KPMG, Accenture Consulting, Ernst & Young, Hewitt Associates, RPG, Marico, Nokia, HSBC, HUL, Hewitt Associates, Duestche Bank.
