The College of Legal studies at University of Petroleum and Energy studies conducts Law Entrance Test in order to accommodate the eligible candidates to graduate as well as Post Graduate programmes in law. There are several specializations offered by the University in the field of Law. The faculty of legal studies has designed the program in such a way to mold young talents into future legal professionals. The college of Legal studies at UPES offers exclusive courses to the deserving candidates. The courses offered are:

  • B.A. L.L.B
  • B.B.A+ L.L.B
  • B. Tech+ L.L.B.

These programs that are being offered by the University of Petroleum and Energy studies are truly innovative and it is of the first kind in South Asia. In addition to these programs UPES also offers integrated course in Law with Energy Technology and Law with Computer Science.

Structure of UPES Law Entrance Test

  • Language Comprehension
  • General Awareness and Current Affairs
  • Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude

For the first and second sections there will be a total of 100 questions each. One mark will be given for each correct answer and for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be reduced. The first section consists of 80 questions from English language and 20 questions from Hindi language. It aims in testing the candidate’s language skills both in English and Hindi. The section consists of questions which help in determining the depth of the knowledge of candidate in general awareness. The third section consists of 50 questions where each question carries two marks. The questions are designed in such a way to test the candidate’s mental ability, legal aptitude as well as reasoning power. If the candidate makes a wrong choice then 2/3 marks will be reduced.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate who wishes to join should possess a minimum of 50% marks for both secondary and senior secondary level. BA.LLB /BBA LLB aspirants with CLAT ranks upto1500 are eligible for GD as well as for the interview. Aspirants those who hold LSAT score of 60 percentile can also attend the group discussion round and interview. Students those who have 85% for both 10th and 12th standard are exempted from the test and they can directly attend the GD and interview.

How to Apply?

The candidates those who make online payments can submit their applications online. Students must make sure that they have filled all the details before submitting the application forms. Take a print out of the completed application form as it has to be used for future references. The students can check the status of the application form by sending an email to [email protected]. After submitting the online application forms, the students are provided with an application number. This application number finds use at the time of admission to the relevant courses. Online application form is accepted only if the candidate makes the online payment. Aspirants can also purchase the application forms by sending a demand draft or cash to the specified address. It should be send in favor of “UPES Fee Account”, which is payable at Delhi/Dehradun. Online applicants have to make a payment of Rs 1600/- and Rs1500/- for those paying by demand draft.

For that the candidates have to follow a systematic study plan. The time table should be created in a stress free manner to keep the candidate focused while preparing for the examination.

The candidates have to work on a lot of previous question papers as it helps in obtaining an over all idea of the pattern of the examination as well as the syllabus.
