UPSC Civil Services: Mathematics Prelims Papers
The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Examination for the prestigious post of IAS, IPS etc. The exam is considered to be one of the toughest in the country. It is conducted in two phases. The first phase or the preliminary examination is for screening. Those who clear the prelims are called for the mains. Students have a choice to select an optional subject from a list of subjects. They can take the test in this subject. Mathematics is one of the subjects. The pattern of the examination is given below.
The exam of Mathematics is of maximum marks of 300 consisting of 120 questions. The time given for the test is two hours. All the questions carry equal marks. The questions are all multiple choice types. There are four options with each question with one of them correct. Students should mark the answer appropriate to them in the separate answer sheet provided. Penalty is there for wrong answer. For each wrong answer 33% of the marks given to that question will be deducted. Multiple answers are also treated as wrong answer and the same negative marking will be applicable for them too. No marks are deducted for questions not unanswered.
