Master of Science in Nursing is one of the most sought after courses today. This is a postgraduate level course that is offered to students who wish to specialize in the field of Nursing. Most of the institutes that offer this course conduct entrance examination for admission process. Let us see the steps involved in the Admission Procedure for M.Sc Nursing in Kerala.

Admission Procedure of the Course

Students who seek admission to Master of Science in Nursing in Kerala are required to have a graduate degree in nursing from any university recognized by UGC. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the course.  Candidates who have passed a regular, full time degree are eligible for admission.  Aspirants must have a score of more than 55 percent in their final exams. Apart from this, an admission test will be carried out for granting admission to the students.

Eligible candidates are required to apply with details in the prescribed application form. Application form as well as prospectus can be downloaded from the official website of the institutions. Admission to the course is made on the basis of merit score in the Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Government of Kerala. Some colleges conduct personal interviews for the admission process.

How to apply?

Candidates who wish to appear for the Entrance examination are required to send the downloaded application form along with the supporting documents to “Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Thiruvananthapuram.” Candidates are required to take demand draft of Rs.800/- in favour of the “Commissioner for Entrance Examinations”, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Exam fee for candidates belonging to reserved category is Rs 400/-.

Entrance Examination

Entrance examination will be conducted at a single venue at Thiruvananthapuram. Candidates can expect questions from all the topics taught during the B.Sc. Nursing Course. There will be 200 objective types multiple choice questions. The entrance examination will consist of 3 hours duration.

Candidates who have cleared the entrance exam will be shortlisted as per the marks obtained in the test. The rank list will also be published in the official website of the institution. The validity of the rank list will be 45 days from the first date of admission to M Sc Nursing Course or as fixed by the Government. Allotment to the course will be made through a centralized allotment process, which will be conducted by the Director of Medical Education.
