Eligibility Criteria for applying to various courses in IICPT

B.Tech (FPE)

Candidates should pass their senior secondary examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as major subjects. OC/OBC candidates require 50% marks for each of these subjects while SC/ST candidates requires only pass marks.

M.Tech (FPE)

Candidates should have B.E/B.Tech degree in Food Process Engineering/ Food Technology/Agricultural Process Engineering/Post Harvest Technology with minimum of 60% aggregate.

Ph.D (FPE)

Candidates should have M.E/M.Tech degree with minimum of 60% aggregate. They should complete the concerned postgraduate degree in Food Process Engineering/Agricultural Process Engineering/Post Harvest Technology/Food Technology

Admission process to IICPT

Admission to B.Tech (FPE) course is based on the rank list prepared by Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology. Ranking will be done by aggregating marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry papers in qualifying exam. It will be calculated for total 200 marks with 50% for Mathematics and other 50% for Physics and Chemistry.

IICPT will conduct an oral examination for the candidates who want to join M.Tech (FPE) course. Ranking will be done on the basis of the marks obtained in this examination and undergraduate degree.

Candidates who want to pursue Ph.D (FPE) course should appear for an oral examination conducted by IICPT. Marks obtained in this oral examination will be considered along with the overall marks in postgraduate degree for preparing rank list.

Certain number of seats in each course is reserved for OBC/SC/ST candidates. 27% seats are reserved for OBC while SC candidates have 15% seats allotted to them. Out of the total number of seats, 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates.

Candidates can seek admission to each course through NRI quota if they have studied at an overseas school for 2 years during the last five years of education. Five seats are there in B.Tech (FPE) course for NRI quota and for other courses there are two seats for NRI quota.
