AIPMT Exam Pattern
The All India Pre-Medical / Dental Test (AIPMT) can be considered as one of the toughest exams in India. This exam is held annually by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The AIPMT exam is carried out for the admission of students into the various Medical Colleges across India.
Students have the option to write the All India Pre-Medical / Dental Test either in Hindi or English. They will first have to appear for the preliminary paper. Subsequent to this, students who have clear in this can write the final paper. The details of the exam are provided below.
Syllabus for AIPMT Exam
The syllabus for the AIPMT exam is based completely on the syllabus of class 12 from a variety of State Boards of Secondary Education like ICSE, CBSE and ISE in addition to some other State Boards. Candidates who desire to apply for this exam must have good knowledge with the syllabuses of class XI and XII (Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics). Students can practice on the notes and other guides they used for the class 12 exam for the preparation of the AIPMT exam.
Question Pattern of AIPMT Exam
The AIPMT entrance exam has a preliminary exam. Students who clear in this can write the Final examination. The details are:
Preliminary Examination:
The Preliminary Examination will include of one paper that contains 200 questions. The questions will be of the objective type. The students will have the option to select a single answer from the four options provided. The paper will include questions on topics like Chemistry, Biology (Zoology & Botany) and Physics. The paper will have duration of 3 hours.
Final Examination (Only those candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination can appear):
The final examination will consist of 2 papers. Each paper will have a time period of two hours.
- Paper I – This paper will consist of questions on Chemistry and Physics.
- Paper II – This paper will be composed of questions from Botany and Zoology
The final exam will follow the traditional pattern (non-objective). The answers will have to be written in the Test Booklet supplied.

Do I need to get admitted to a college before appearing for AIPMT?
even if we score less in physics and chemistry and we have good marks in biology can we get admission in topmost college….
do we have to pass separately in physics and chemistry??or only overall marks are counted for????
