Annamalai University is one of the largest universities of India. The university offers a full range o courses for the benefit of the students. Also the university is a pioneer in distant education. Annamalai University also offers a post graduate diploma in Actuarial Science. In the first year of the course there is a paper on “Insurance and Annuities” the paper is very important as far as the studies of actuarial science is concerned. The exam is a conventional exam with the time duration of three hours. The maximum marks of the paper are 100.

The question paper is divided into two sections. Section A consists of eight questions and a choice to answer any five is given. The questions in this section are of 8 marks each. Questions can be expected from anywhere in the syllabus.

Section B consists of 5 questions which are all compulsory. The questions in this section carry 12 marks each. There are no overall choices, but each question is given with an alternative. So the students can answer any of the two. The questions are so set that the entire syllabus is covered, so selective study will not help. To score good, extensive study is required. The paper is a scoring one.
