Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) came into existence on October 1, 1926 under the Government of India. The commission was established with the aim of having a constitutional body in the country responsible for conducting the written as well as the personal interview examination for making the recruitment to the various Civil Services of India. The commission consists of a Chairman and few other members. The Chairman and other members of the Union Public Service Commission are recruited by the President of India only.
