Profile:

Punjab Public Service Commission was established in the year 1948 under the Government of India. Joint Public Service Commission is the prescursor of the Punjab Public Service Commission which was established in the year 1937 at Lahore. After the partition, the Punjab Public Service Commission was started at Shimla. Later it was shifted to Patiala in the year 1956. The commission consists of one chairman and seven other members. Punjab Public Service Commission was established under the Article 315 of the Constitution of India. Mr. Sanjit Kumar Sinha is the chairman of the commission.

Job Profile:

Punjab Public Service Commission invites applications from the eligible candidates for making recruitment on the posts of Assistant Architect. Candidates will have to work in the Department of Public Works (Architecture Wing), Punjb.

Eligibility:

18 years is the minimum age limit and 37 years is the maximum age limit as on 1 January 2011. Candidates should have age within this minimum and maximum age limit set for the post. There is relaxation available for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories as per the rules of Government of Punjab.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should be a Degree holder in Architecture. Candidates should have done Matriculation in Punjabi or its equivalent. Degree in Architecture is the minimum educational qualification set for the post and all interested candidates should possess this degree in order to apply in Punjab Public Service Commission.

No. of posts: There are total 70 posts available in the Department of Public Works (Architecture Wing), Punjab. However, out of total number of posts, 53 posts are in Civil, 13 are in Electrical and 4 in Mechanical.

Pay Scale: Rs. 15600-39100 with a grade pay of Rs. 5400 is the salary that will be paid to the candidates, who will get selected on the respective post in the Department of Public Works (Architecture Wing), Punjab.

Application Fee:

Submission of application fee through a Demand Draft is must for the candidates. The application fee for all candidates except SC/ST/OBC candidates is Rs. 200. The application fee for SC/ST/OBC candidates is Rs. 50 only. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of Secretary, Punjab Public Service Commission.

Selection Process:

A competitive written test is the first phase of the selection proces for the specified post. The second phase of the process includes a personal interview session of each candidate that will be taken by a selection committee. Successfull candidates of both the examination will be considered as the selected ones for the respective posts.
