Candidates who have secured a diploma in the field of Pharmacy can join the second year of graduation in Government and as well as self financing colleges. As to get admitted into this course, the students will need to appear for an entrance exam that is carried out by the University of Kerala. Eligibility for B.Pharm Lateral Entry in Kerala Pharma Colleges

Students who have secured a minimum of 50 percent in the second year of the D. Pharm course are eligible to apply for the written exam. The certification must be from an institute that is recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India. A relaxation of 5 percent is made available for students of the SEBC/OEC categories. A pass will suffice for students of the SC/ST categories. It is also required for the students to be Indian citizens and of Kerala origin.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in Kerala Pharma Colleges

Students who belong to the SC/ST categories will require a score of minimum 10 percent marks in the entrance test as to figure in the merit list. There is no minimum mark restriction for these candidates. As for the fee details, the students of the SC/ST category need to make a payment of Rs. 150/-. Candidates of the general category have to pay Rs.300/-.

Applying for B.Pharm Lateral Entry in Kerala Pharma Colleges

The admission of students into the B.Pharm lateral entry program is done by way of an interview and an entrance exam that is carried out by the Commissioner of Entrance Exams (CEE).  This admission test is performed for the admission of eligible students into the B.Pharm courses. The exam will have a time period of 2 ½ hours. The test will include questions from topics like chemistry, physics and mathematics. The syllabus will be of classes 10+1 and 10+2 of the ICSE, CBSE and state board. After obtaining a challan from any nationalized banks, the Students can register online in the formal website of the CEE. The printed form should then be dispatched to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Trivandrum.

The advantages are quite a lot in number for students who enter the B.Pharm course by lateral entry. The main benefit for the candidates will be that they won’t have to study the first year again and thus they will be saving a year. The second best advantage is that they won’t find the lessons difficult. As they would have studied the fundamentals in the diploma program, their ability to comprehend the lessons as well as the lab work will be great.
