The basic objective of the Digital Signal Processing Paper in the Electronics and Communication Engineering department under Calicut University is to impart basic ideas in the transform used in digital domain and in the design and hardware realization of digital filters. The subject covers a wide variety of topics; however a proper analysis of the paper pattern helps to prepare for the exam in a smarter way.

Syllabus:

The syllabus is broadly divided into four parts:

Module I - Review of Discrete Fourier series and Discrete Time Fourier Transform.

Module II - Structures for realization of discrete time systems.

Module III - Design of different types of Digital filters.

Module IV - Computer Architectures for signal processing.

Text Books for reference:

1) Oppenheim A. V., Schafer R. W., Discrete Time Signal Processing, Prentice Hall/Pearson.

2) Mitra S. K., Digital Signal Processing: A Computer Based Approach, Tata McGraw Hill.

Paper Pattern:

The total time allotted for the 100 marks Digital Signal Processing paper is three hours. The paper is divided into two sections. The first section consists of eight compulsory questions of 5 marks each. The second section has four questions of 15 marks each all of which are compulsory. All the questions in the second section however have internal choices.
