Cochin University of Science and Technology Departmental Admission Test (CUSAT DAT) is an admission test conducted by CUSAT for the selection of eligible candidates for various courses offered by the University. CUSAT DAT is conducted each year by the University for the admission into various post graduate course, certificate Diploma courses, M.Phil, PhD programmes etc. CUSAT DAT M Tech test is organized for the selection of candidates for the admission into the M Tech courses offered by CUSAT. Numerous candidates go through the admission test each year and joining for the courses offered by Cochin University of Science and Technology.

Structure of Cochin University of Science and Technology Departmental Admission Test (CUSAT DAT-M TECH)

The admission of the candidates for the M Tech course offered by various institutes under CUSAT is done on the basis of the DAT exam. It includes two parts- a written test and an n interview.  The written test is on objective type format and it includes 150 questions from three important sections. The test consists of maximum of 150 marks. The time allotted for the written test is two and a half hours. Four alternatives are provided for each questions and one of them is most suitable answer for the questions. It is to evaluate the candidates’ knowledge in the B Tech course curriculum subjects. Those who score 50% marks in the written test will be called for the interview. Final selection of the candidates will be on the basis of the score in the written test, interview and their qualifying exam.

Syllabus for Cochin University of Science and Technology Departmental Admission Test (CUSAT DAT-M TECH)

The entrance test consists of three sections of questions from the B Tech course curriculum.

Section 1: Engineering Mathematics (50 Questions) (50 Marks)

Section 2: Basic Engineering and Sciences (50 Questions) (50 Marks)

Section 3: Specialized subjects (50 Questions) (50 Marks)

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who have completed their B Tech course with minimum 60 % marks from any recognized University can apply for the CUSAT DAT M Tech entrance exam. The B Tech certificate obtained by the candidates should be in the specialized subjects. The candidates who have completed their M Sc with 60% marks in the specialized subjects are also eligible for applying for the test. The candidates must have a good GATE score for applying for the test.

How to Apply?

The application form for the CUSAT DAT M Tech exam will be available from the concerned departments of the CUSAT University. The interested candidates can obtain the application form by at the payment of the application fee. The exam fee is Rs.850/- for the general category candidates and Rs.375/- for the reserved category candidates. The candidates have to submit the application form after the payment of the exam fee to the concerned department before the due date for the submission of the form.

How to fill the Form?

The candidates must fill the form by following all the instructions given in the notification. The candidates have to pay the exam fee in a nationalized bank using the fee payment challan form.  Two recent photographs of the candidate must be pasted in the application form. After the payment of fee the candidates should submit the duly filled form, fee payment receipt and photocopies of the necessary documents to the concerned department of CUSAT University.

Last date for sale of DAT application form: First Week of February, 2012

Last date for remittance of registration fee at the bank counter: First Week of February, 2012

Date of Downloading the Admit Card from the University website: From the Second Week of March, 2012

Date of Examination: First Week of May, 2012

Study Plan

The Candidates have to start their study for the exam at least two months before the exam. The candidates should have an idea about the difficult and easiness of the topics needed to be covered with in the limited time. The candidates have to develop their own short cuts for solving the difficult problems. The candidates must work out with the previous question papers to understand the pattern of the exam. Revision of the studied topics is very important. The candidates can also go for coaching classes.

How and Where To Get the Results?

The result of the exam will be published in the website www.cusat.ac.in.

Score Validity

The score of the exam will be valid only for the admission period of the current year only.
