Combined Medical Services Exam is for those doctors who want to be a part of the government organization I.e. who wants to work in Government health services like Central Health Services, Railways, Municipal council, Indian Ordnance Factories Health Services and MCD. CMS exam is the best way for the doctors to get into the government services. The entrance test is conducted at various centers in different parts of the country and is based on two tests, one written test and other an interview.

Exam Pattern

The written test has two papers. The paper II has 3 sections, Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Preventive and Social Medicine. The total mark allotted is 250 and time duration is 2 hours. There are 120 questions in total of which 40 questions of 62.5 marks are from Surgery, 40 questions of 145.8 marks are from Gynaecology and Obstetrics and 40 questions of 41.7 marks are from Preventive and Social Medicine. It is clearly understood that more emphasis is given on Gynaecology and Obstetrics as maximum marks is allotted for this section. So the candidates are advised to prepare Gynaecology and Obstetrics thoroughly. There is also negative marking in CMS exam. For every wrong answer or two or more answers for same questions 1/3 rd of the marks allotted for that question is deducted from the candidate’s total score.
