The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies is one amongst the leading private management institutes in our country. The entrance exam that is carried out by this institution is called as NMAT or Narsee Monjee Admission Test.

The NMAT evaluates aspirants on their Language Skills and Quantitative Skills. The Logical Reasoning Skills of the candidates are also tested. The paper of the exam has questions with many choices. The question format has questions of the objective-type. In fact, the difficulty level of the NMAT exam is generally moderate. The one challenge that is associated with this exam is its cut off marks. The cut off marks can be described as the least marks the aspirants have to score to get a rank in the list of merit. The cut off marks will change every year on the basis of the general performance of the aspirants in the exam on a specific year.

Cut off marks of NMAT for the year 2011

Programme Names and their cutoffs

Full-time Core MBA, MBA Actuarial Science, MBA Banking, and MBA Capital Market - In this program, the students had to score above 53 marks in Language Skills, above 79 marks in Quantitative Techniques and more than 66 marks in Logical Reasoning. The overall cut off marks they needed was 233.

Full-Time MBA Pharmaceutical Management - In this program, the aspirants had to score more than 45 cut off marks in Language Skills, above 30 cut off marks in Quantitative Techniques and above 40 marks in Logical Reasoning. They had to score an overall cut off marks of above 124.

Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (EPGDBM) - In this program the candidates had to score more than 30 cut off marks in Language Skills, above 25 cut off marks in Quantitative Techniques and above 30 marks in Logical Reasoning. The total cut off marks they needed was 85.

Cut off marks of NMAT for the year 2010

FT MBA Core Programme/MBA Actuarial Science/MBA Banking/MBA Capital Market - Students need to score above 53marks in Language Skills, 79 marks in Quantitative Techniques and above 6 marks in Logical Reasoning. The overall cut off marks that were needed by them was 233.

FT MNA Pharmaceutical Management - Aspirants needed above 45 cut off marks in Language Skills, more than 30 marks in Quantitative Techniques and above 40 marks in Logical Reasoning. The overall cutoff marks that were needed were more than 124.

EPGDBM - Candidates needed above 30 cut off marks in Language Skills, above 25 marks in Quantitative Techniques and more than 30 marks in Logical Reasoning. The overall cut off marks that were required was 85.

Given below is the expected cut-offs of a few of the famous coaching institutes.

  • Career Forum – The expected cut off marks were more than 87 marks.
  • Career Launcher – The expected cut off marks were higher than 84 marks.
  • PT Education – The cut off marks expected was more than 80 marks.
  • TCY Online – The cut off marks that were expected was above 84 marks
  • TIME – The cut off marks was in between 88-92.

Cut off marks of NMAT for the year 2008

Given below is the expected cut off marks of the major coaching institutes in India.

The NMAT scores have about 80 percent weightage in the selection procedure of NMIMS. So, it is important that students score high marks in the test. A person should attempt atleast 70 percent out of the 80 percent questions with precision. Negative marking is there in the exams. While each correct answer will be given 1 mark, 0.25 marks was taken away for every erroneous answer from the overall score.
