B.Sc holders having studied Biochemistry/Nutrition as one of the subjects can apply for M.Sc (Applied Nutrition) in National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. Science graduates who have studied subjects such as Food Science, Physiology, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics can join to this programme in WBUHS. Admission process is usually done on the basis of entrance exam. Entrance test conducted by Dr.NTR. University of Health Sciences comprise questions from topics like Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Physiology. There will be 100 objective model questions (time duration — 80 minutes) for entrance test carried out at WBUHS.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc in Applied Nutrition

Eligibility for M.Sc degree in Applied Nutrition varies slightly with University/institute. Applicants must hold any of the following educational qualifications to apply. Those seeking admission to this course in National Institute of Nutrition, must hold any of the following degree qualifications.

  • MBBS
  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Home Science
  • Bachelor of Science with Biochemistry/Nutrition as one of the major subjects

Upper age limit for the applicant must be 50 years. Three year age relaxation is candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

The West Bengal University of Health Sciences allows candidates with B.Sc degree in any of the following streams for admission.

  • Food & Nutrition
  • Dietetics
  • Food Science
  • Biochemistry
  • Physiology
  • Food Technology
  • Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics

The required qualification must be obtained with a minimum aggregate of 50% from any of the recognized college or University.

Admission Process for M.Sc (Applied Nutrition)

Admission process is usually done on the basis of entrance exam. Dr.NTR. University of Health Sciences conducts an objective model entrance test for admission. There will be 100 questions for the test that must be answered within 90 minutes. Questions for the test are asked from the following topics.

  • Biochemistry
  • Microbiology
  • Nutrition
  • Physiology

Twenty five questions (each) are asked from the sessions of Biochemistry and Physiology. There will be 40 questions from nutrition and 10 questions from Microbiology. Aspirants need to secure at least 40 marks to qualify. For SC/ST candidates, the marks required to qualify is 30.

For entrance test in West Bengal University of Health Sciences, questions are asked from the following topics.

  • Physiology
  • Nutrition
  • Maternal and child nutrition
  • Food Sciences
  • Community Health
  • Biochemistry

General category need to obtain at least 40 marks to qualify the entrance test where as SC/ST candidates must obtain a minimum of 35 marks. Total time required to answer 100 objective model questions is 80 minutes. Applications for attending the entrance test can be submitted online through the website of the concerned University.
