Are polytechnic holders eligible for merchant navy?
I have completed polytechnic with mechanical (automobiles). How can i enter in to the field of merchany navy. Do i have to go through some other courses. Please guide me.

Yes definitely you are eligible to join Merchant Navy after completion of your diploma: Eligibility: Candidate must have done diploma with at least 50% marks and Diploma College should be approved by AICTE. Maximum age limit should not exceed 28 years.

No, you cannot join Merchant Navy after completion of diploma.
Those candidates who passed your twelfth or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics from Central/ State board or recognised school are eligible for Merchant Navy . exam. Your age should be below 20 years Physical Criteria:- Eyesight - 6/6 Height - 167 cms Weight - 50 kg Chest - 77 cm ( Normal )/ 82 cm ( Expending ). |

Yes, Diploma polytechnic student can join Merchant Navy.But you can join only if you have mechanical or electrical and its sub branches. As a diploma engineer you can join course which will finally lead to BE/BS Marine Engineering post completion you will join vessel as TME.
Here post diploma you will join in second year and subsequently have to complete rest three years of Marine Engineering. Electrical and sub branches will lead you to ETO course ,post completion you will join as training eat you this is a 16 week course. In both cases you have to score 60% in diploma polytechnic |

Yes, polytechnic holders are eligible for Merchant Navy. The minimum qualification required to apply for Merchant Navy is a candidate must have done a diploma in engineering with a minimum score of 50% and the same percentage in the English language at class 10th and 12th standard. A candidate should be mentally and physically fit, have good communication skills and eyesight should be perfect. A candidate's maximum age should not be more than 28 years.

They can join merchant navy only if they have mechanical/electrical and it's sub branches.
As a diploma holder, one can join course which will finally lead to BE/BS Marine Engineering ,post completion one can join vessel as TME. Electrical and it's sub branches will lead a candidate to ETO course post completion , one can join as Trainee ETO. One has to score around 60-70% in their diploma. |
