Hello Friend,
To become IAS Officer you will have to pass Civil Services Exam which is conducted every year by UPSC. The Eligibility for Civil Services is: 1. Graduation in any discipline 2. Age Limit: 21-30 Years. Please visit www.upsc.gov.in for more details. There are no specific subject that one should know to become IAS Officer. All you need is to pass UPSC CSE with very good marks and for that you must have good command over your optional subjects and also good knowledge of GS and Current Affairs. For optional subjects you can choose any two subjects in which you are good and easy to understand and in which you have interest. Good Luck. |

The eligibility criteria is that you need to have minimum of degree certificate in regard to educational background or equivalent qualification to it.You must attain the age of 21-30 years.you can refer to this website.www.upsc.gov.in.

You should have graduation degree to appear for IAS exam conducted by UPSC .

IAS is a top cadre Indian Civil Service.

I am an engineering graduate. I met an accident of my right hand about 12 years ago, in which I lost my index finger finger & Thumb. However, I have been operated upon for my thumb (toe-transfer). And since then I have no difficulties in any aspects of life. I have been riding motorcycle and driving cars for about 6 years now. I have a good physique. I can do all the regular work. Can I still fit into the selection criteria of IAS, if I do qualify in the IAS exams ???

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC every year. The eligibility criteria for this exam is-
* The candidate must be a citizen of India. * The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any field from a recognised university. * The minimum age is 21 years. The upper age limit for general category is 30 years, for SC/ST category 35 years and for OBC category 33 years. Maximum number of attempts is- * General - 4 * SC/ST - No restriction * OBC - 7 These apply for both men and women. For IAS exam you must have sound knowledge of Indian history, economics, politics, geography, current affairs, general knowledge. Also you should practice for interview. |

Citizenship Eligibility for IAS MUST be a Citizen of India.

IPS exam is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and the examination is divided in to three successive stages. The Preliminary Examination and The Main Examination. Interview Eligibility IPS exam: Age should be 21 years (minimum) and 30 years (maximum). SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen are given exemption of 3 to 5 years in maximum age limit. you should be graduate from any recognised university. You should be an indian citizen. You should have minimum 60% aggregate in any recognised university. The final year degree students are also applying for the examination Physical qualification for IPS: Height: For male should be 165cm and female should be 150cm for general category candidates. In the case of under SC/ST/OBC the height required is 160cm for male and 145cm for female. Chest: Minimum male candidates are 84cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm. In the case of female candidates the minimum requirement is 79cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm. Eye sight: 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worse eye and 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. Near vision for worse eye is J2 and for good eye is J1. Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various All India Services including I.A.S., I.P.S., I.F.S., I.R.S., and various Group A Services and Group B Services. Normally applications are invited by UPSC notifications in leading News Papers during December every year. The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages : 1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually conducted in May) 2. Civil Services Main Examination (Written) (Conducted during October/November) 3. Interview and final Selection (During April/May) 1. Minimum Educational Qualification : Degree of any recognized university. However candidates studying in final year examination may apply for Preliminary. When he applies for Main Examination, he shall be a Graduate. But the following Engineering discipline are eligible :- * Civil Engineering, * Mechanical Engineering, * Bio Technology, * Electrical Engineering, * Physics * Chemistry * Statics * Geology etc. For this you have to prepare right now.Here I have also mentioned about the age limit and number of attempts of the examination. 2. Age limits : You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination. Any one who completed graduation they can apply for IAS exam. so first of all you should complete your graduation. ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATION TO BECOME AN IAS OFFICER:- -The candidate must be an Indian National -Should have either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University. -Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC candidate up to 3 years. There is a restriction to the number of attempts to Civil Service Exam:- -General Candidate - Four attempts -OBC candidate - Seven attempts -SC/ST candidate - NO restriction The selection is through two stages written exam CSAT which is called as Preliminary Exam and Civil Service Main Exam. Citizenship: candidate must be Indian Educational qualification: Candidate must be graduate in any stream under University Grants Commission (UGC) Age limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years for general category, for OBC it will be minimum 21 and maximum 33 years and SC/ST unlimited . No. of permissible attempts : Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs .
