The abbreviation of GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.  Not at all, pre-final year Engineering candidates can't appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The educational qualifications regarding with Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering are below mentioned:- # Candidates must have finished their bachelor degree in any curriculum from any approved institution. # Candidates of last year of bachelor degree are also preferable for this exam. # Citizenship:- Must be Indian. # Age criteria:- Not assumed. # No. of attempts:- Not assumed. GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is an entrance exam conducted by IIT and Indian Institute of Science for admission to M.Tech. courses in IITs, NITs etc. No. Prefinal year candidate are not eligible to apply for GATE which was possible earlier. The eligible candidate being an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University, is eligible to apply for GATE. There is no upper age limit and norestriction on number of attempts to GATE. |

Re: Can Pre-Final year Engineering candidates appear for GATE Exam? Only final year students and those who have complete the Degree can apply for GATE. Pre final students are not eligible now. It has been reduced to final year students few year back by IITs. Now the GATE scorecard is valid for 1 year only means there is no chance that a pre final year student can apply for GATE. GATE is organised by IITs and IISc Bangalore for admission into Post Graduation courses of various disciplines. Those who qualify GATE will get stipend during the Post Graduation and they can also apply for JRF(Junior Research Fellowships). Many PSUs are also hiring in the basis of GATE scorecard means if you qualify then it will create numerous job opportunities. For more information download the attachment. |

Re: Can Pre-Final year Engineering candidates appear for GATE Exam? hello dear yes,Pre-Final year Engineering candidates are eligiable to appear for GATE Exam. the GATE eligibility is given below 1.minimum graduation in engineering for AICTE approved college or university. final year & prefinal year BE/B.Tech students are also allowed to attain in the gate exam. the gate exam is conducted on the month of February. and the expected from will be given in the month of October. there have not any age limit to attain in the gate exam. all the best........... |

Previously pre-final year student can give GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in engineering) exam.GATE is conducted by IITS AND IISC.It is very important exam for engineers who want to do M.TECH with scholarship.In this year GATE 2012 is conducted by IIT DELHI. Information Regarding GATE-2012 Examination. NO, According to GATE-2012 notification the pre-final year candidates are not eligible for the GATE-2012 examination. Only final year and pass out candidates are eligible for GATE-2012 examination. GATE exam is conducted by the management of IIT college for the admission in the M.Tech course in IIT college. Many other college also take admission in the M.Tech course through the GATE score cards. So, if you a pre-final year candidates then you are not eligible for the GATE examination. You will be eligible in the final year of qualifying examination. NOTE :- There are no age limit and percentage required in the qualifying examination. So, you can appear in the GATE examination at any age. Only pass the qualifying examination is enough to appear in the GATE exam. Eligibility for GATE exam:- The candidate must have complete the bachelor degree in the field of Engineering/Technology/Architecture. or, The candidate must have complete the master degree in the field of M.Sc in any science subject/MBA/MCA etc.. There is no age limit to appear in GATE exam. No number of attempt restriction.. The candidate can appear in GATE exam during the pre-final year or final year of the graduation or post graduation.. The validity of GATE score is 2years.. So, go for it.. All the best. |

Dear friend, Eligibility for GATE Examination The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2012: * Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes. * Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes. * Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology. * Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. * Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. So you can not sit for this year,but next year you can.Wish you all the best. |

Earlier pre-final students were appeared for exam but from year 2012, GATE make some changes in eligibility. Eligibility for GATE 2012 •-> Graduation degree in engineering. •-> Only pass-out and final year student will be allowed. •-> No age limit criteria. GOOD LUCK |
