There are several career options after 12th class other than MBBS. The candidates can opt for the Defense wing mainly in Indian navy or air force. They need to attend the CDS exam for this. The candidates can also join in for the various job vacancies which will be available in different sectors for the 12th class students. The candidates can attend the various bank exams. There are certain banks who call in for 12th class students for the post of clerks and all. They need to attend the entrance exam for this.

I have PCB in 12th, I like biology, I got 94 in science in 10th standard (ICSE)I even like medical and want to pursue it but it is a lengthy procedure, and my father wants me to do clat. I am totally confused what to do next? plz help me with it.is clat a good option for me?

My group is PCB. I left maths. What career options do i have except MBBS, means it should have craze after 20 years also. Means it should be perenial like MBBS. It should be there and famous like MBBS throughtout my life. And i should get income upto 3-4 lakhs?

There are lots of courses for which you can go after completion of 12th with medical stream.You should be hard working for it so that you can go well.As you are not interested to go for MBBS but still there are various other courses for which you can go.

You should have to show your interest in the course which you will choose after 12th because graduation is very-very important for your career and future.You have to choose appropriate course in which you have great interest.



You must have completed your 12th with more than 50% marks under some recognized college or university.The courses other than MBBS are as follows:

1. M. B. B. S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): MBBS is the medical degree awarded in many countries like UK, India. MBBS stands for Bachelor of

2. B. D. S. (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): Bachelor of Dental Surgery ( B.D.S ) is a first professional degree programme in dentistry. DURATION: 4 years

3. B. H. M. S. (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery): The Homeopathic Education in India is presently regulated by the National Institute of

Homeopathy.Applicant should have passed HSC Exam from Statutory Board/University in India or equivalence. DURATION: 5.5 years

4. B. A. M. S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery): This degree is awarded to those students who have studied ayurveda system of medicine in India. The

Ayurvedic Education in India is presently regulated by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). DURATION: 5.5 years

5. M.D. (Doctor of Medicine): This degree is awarded to Physicians.Doctors possessing M.B.B.S. degree are eligible to for this course. DURATION: 3 years

9. B.Pharma (Bachelor of Pharmacy) : Applicant must pass with at least 50% marks in Pre University Course with biology/mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects,

or DPharma (Diploma in Pharmacy). DURATION: 4 years

10.B.Sc Nursing : In order to eligible you must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks.The goal of B.Sc. Nursing programme

is to prepare nurses who are able function efficiently and effectively, as a member of health care team and who is qualified to meet the nursing needs of the people in

11.B.P.T (Physiotherapy) :Applicant must pass in 12th class or equivalent with a minimum aggregate percentage of 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology.He/She

12.B.O.T (Occupational Therapy) : It is a 3 year program.In order to eligible you must pass 10+2 with PCB (physics, chemistry and biology). Some institutions may opt

for an entrance examination and may select candidates on the basis of performance in the entrance test. DURATION: 3 years

13.B.U.M.S(Unani Medicine) : Candidate aspiring for B.U.M.S. course must have passed Intermediate (10 + 2) with Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Urdu is compulsory up to

10th class or equivalent Education.Candidate must have attain minimum 17 years of age as on 31st December of the responding year. DURATION: 5.5 years

14.Optometry : Optometry is a science that is associated with structure, working and function of human eye. EYECET examination is necessary to pass to go for B. Optom

Degree. DURATION: 2 years

15.Ophthalmic Assistant Course : An ophthalmic assistant is a person who works with an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) to provide patient care by performing many

different eye-related clinical functions.You should have a high school diploma or equivalent.Typical salaries for ophthalmic assistants range from $30,000 to $70,000.

DURATION: 2 years

16.Histopathological Lab Technology : Management and planning of the laboratory records.Care and maintenance of laboratory instruments in general. Collection of

specimens for laboratory investigations, the importance and significance of laboratory investigations.Laboratory management and planning, receiving and recording of

specimens, indexing, maintaining records. DURATION: 1 year

17.D. Pharma(Ayurvedic, Siddha Medicine) : Pharmacy is a health profession that relates the health sciences with the chemical sciences. Candidates who have cleared the

12th class exams with physics, maths, chemistry or physics, maths and biology can apply for D.Pharma. DURATION: 2 year

18.Lab Technicians : Aspirants of medical laboratory technology can take up courses both at diploma and undergraduate level. The B.Sc. programme in medical laboratory

technology is offered by different medical colleges/institutions across the country.Lab technicians needs 10+2 as the eligibility DURATION: 1 year

19.Sanitary Inspector Course : The sanitary inspector is a health specialist, who is responsible for the execution of sanitary control in the state in various fields.A

candidate should clear the Class X as well as Class XII board exams and science should be one of the subjects. DURATION: 1 year

20.General Nursing Training Course : This course trains an individual to take good care of the patients. Applicant should atleast clear 10+2 board examinations with

Physics, Chemistry and Biology.The candidate should be at least 17 years of age. DURATION: 3.5 years

21. Dental Mechanic Course : This course aims to facilitate students to understand and gain knowledge of working with various Dental Materials on the impressions made

for the oral rehabilitation of the patient. This work is done in dental laboratory in the absence of the patient. The Candidate should have passed the higher secondary

school examination or its equivalent (12 years schooling certificate) with not less than 50 per cent marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together or

any other equivalent examination of any other country duly recognised. DURATION: 2 years . .

22.Dental Hygienist Course : This course aims to facilitate students to understand and gain knowledge of working as a chairside assistant who does oral prophylaxis,

give instruction in oral hygiene and preventive dentistry but work under supervision of Dental Surgeon. The Candidate should have passed the higher secondary school

examination or its equivalent (12 years schooling certificate) with not less than 50 per cent marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together or any

23.Bachelor of Occupational therapy : Occupational therapy is the use of productive activity in the rehabilitation or treatment of physically or emotionally challenged

people.Student seeing admissions to colleges and universities offering Bachelor of Occupational Therapy have to pass the 10+2 examination with Chemistry, Physics and

Biology. DURATION: 3 years

24.Radiological Assistant : Radiology assistants assist radiologists by by doing some radiologic procedures. Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Radiology

Assistance, Master of Science in Radiology Assistance or a Radiologist Assistant Post-Baccalaureate Certificate. Radiologist assistants can expect to earn between

$80,000 and $100,000 a year DURATION: 1 year

25.Radiography [Diagnosis & Therapy] : Six out of ten patients who receive radiotherapy treatment for cancer are cured.British radiographers are recognised as being

among them the best in the world.A radiography degree is a passport to a job. Radiography students pay no tuition fees and you can qualify for an NHS bursary.

26.Nuclear Medicine Technology : The Nuclear Medicine Technologist assists the physician when radioactive materials are used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Graduates may earn a bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or a certificate.$48,750 was the median annual income of all nuclear medicine technologists in 2002 DURATION:

What are the different courses or fields that 12th science candidate should go with, other than medical. As Marine & Merchant Navy is one of the good option. Are there some more like this...please guide on urgent basis

The eligibility required to join Merchant Navy is to score more than 60% in PCM (compulsory)
12th Science. The age should be less than 20 years before joining the course. Samudra institute of Marine is one of the leading collage in Mumbai based at Govandi. You can get more info frm there as well...

First of all you must decide your goal and interest.Because without knowing your goal you cant choose any particular field.As you are doing 12th from maths group then you have a wide course options to make your career bright.After completing 12th you can apply for engineering,pharmacy,bca,nda,banking.A maths group student mostly prefer engineering. Entrance exams-Entrance exams for engineering are amu,aieee,iit-jee,vit,uptu,mptu,etc. These are the entrance exams. Eligiblity-Eligiblity is different of each entrance exam,basicaly a candidate must be 12th pass with minimum 50 percent marks in pcm.

After 12th there are so many higher study scope .You are from Bio-Science departments so you have so many chances for graduation.

List of good courses with bright job opportunities are as follows:

BDS (Bachelors of Dental Science)

BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy)

BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery)

BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery)

B. Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy)

B. Tech. ( Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology): For this one needs to clear AIEEE exams with biology subject.

BE in Environmental Engineering

BSc course ( Bachelor of Science): One can clear entrance & get into IITs, JNU for the same.

BSc courses are offered in varied fields like Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bio sciences, Botany, Zoology, Forensic Science, Agriculture, Bioinformatics, Genetic Engineering, Environmental Science.

So you can choose any of these stream.

There are a lot opportunities prevailing for those who have completed the 12th class. Abundant vacancies are arising day to day in the Government sector. You can also apply for private jobs. To know about the opportunities in the public sector, start reading employment newspapers. You can also register your name and qualification in any of the renowned placement cells. You can seek jobs in Media, Film & TV and Mass Communication. In the medical sector also, there are numerous openings. There is a need of 12th passed outs in every sector.
