Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? i have not cleared h.s.c and am currently in my final year through yashwantrao chavan maharashtra open university. as this university allows you to complete graduation even though u have not cleared h.s.c. am i still eligible for the civil services exam???..is this university recognised in this department?? |

Hi dear, you want to be a customer officer.its a very relaxed job with good money and respects. for this post you have to apply for public sirvices conducted by staff selection commission. it needs graduation degree certificate,with good marks. you have to be these take exames in two phase 1 prime test. 2.mains in pt you have been asked three paper 1 English 2 general science. 3 general studies. and in mains. there is 5 theory paper, these all are based on your choice. you have to choose subjects. so dont worry , for knowledge you can visit. its official site. Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? hello everyone, i don't understand most of the posts that are here.. i'm going to finish my engineering degree in 2010 only. im doing my final year now. my friend advised me to go for customs. what else i'm missing in . i don;t know how to apply. when is the eaminatin date.. and most importantly what is the exam itself. |

After that clear the civil service exam which is conducted by UPSC. After clearing UPSC exam prepare for interview. Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? hello friend your interest to become a custom officer is very appreciable and the procedure to become a custom officer is to 1)you should have any degree 2)then wait for civils notification which will be uneviled in november 3)apply for civils 4) pass through all the stages 5)then you have to keep your option as Indian custom and excise service as you'r for first option 6) then you'll get a job in customs department all the best ~aditya~ |

Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? hi friend, The minimum to enroll yourself for the post of custom officer is a simple graduation with greater than 50% marks. One has to take the examination of IAS (conducted by UPSC) , and clear it in order to get a job in custom officer. Actually two separate services, this is one of the two main tax collecting Departments of the government whose function may be divided into two broad areas: -The control of imported and exported goods for the purpose of duty, statistics and checks for entry of prohibited and restricted goods, especially smuggled drugs. -The administration and collection of most of the taxes on consumer expenditure (indirect taxes) levied in the country. |

Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? Examination for the selection of Customs Officer is being conducted by SSC for which you need to have graduation as minimum qualification. There are 3stages in the selection: Prelims (objective type), Mains( descriptive) and the Interview. Apart from this, there are some physical standards specified for this job. |

Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? Hi friend, It will be best for you to go with the commerce field if you want to become a custom officer. All you have to do is to complete the graduation first. After graduation in plain commerce, there are many professional courses like CA, CS etc which can help you in your future career. To join Govt sector in custom officer job profile you have to appear in UPSC exams. Good luck! |

Hello friend, I am not aware of any specific course, but to join the custom department you may write Combined Graduate Level Exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission. The minimum educational qualification required is a bachelor's degree from a recognised institute. The examination is divided into Preliminary exam and Main exam. The preliminary exam consists of two papers with maximum marks of 100 for each. The subjects are General Intelligence & General Awareness Arithmetic After passing the preliminary exam, you will be eligible to write the main exam. The subjects for the main exam are as follows. To become a Customs Officer you will have to take the Civil Services Examination which provides entry into 27 different services including the Indian Customs & Central Excise Services. The educational qualification required for appearing in civil services exam is a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university. To prepare for the UPSC exams you need to in touch with all the current affairs and should have good General Awareness. Regular reading of newspapers will help you. You should also need to read Competition Master at a regular basis. |

Re: Course to become a Custom Officer? You cannot join any course and become a custom officer. Customs officer, is a Law enforcement agent, who enforces customs law, on behalf of the Govt. Following are the requirements to become a Custom official:- You must be a Graduate with minimum 50% marks Your age should be from 18 to 29 years. You have to clear Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC Whenever vacancy arises in Customs Department, notification is given in all leading newspapers and Employment news or regularly visit the website of upsc at www.upsc.gov.in After clearing the Written exam, you will be asked to report for Interview After selection, you may be posted at Central Excise Customs officer who will be incharge of port. Similarly, in Airport, also Customs officer is incharge of checking foreign goods including smuggling . |
