CPT :- Common Proficiency Test . It's an entry level Examination for CA course . This Examination is conducted by Institute of Charted Accountant of India .

Eligibility criteria :-

You should be complete Senior Secondary Examination 10th or 12th or equivalent examination in any discipline with 55% percentage of marks from recognized university . There is no age limit for apply for CPT Examination .

The Examination is conducted by the mode of Paper-Pencil mode Examination .

The CPT Examination consist of objective type questions . This Examination having Negative marking . So you will take special care for attempting the Examination .

You may apply for the examination in both the online as well as offline .

Syllabus for CPT Examination :-

-Fundamentals of Accounting
-Mercantile Laws
-General Economics
-Quantitative Aptitude

If you want to crack the good percentage of marks refer the previous Question papers and refer the various books available in markets .

CPT stands for Common Proficiency Test.

12th or equivalent passed with recognized board.
Candidate must be an Indian.


Chartered Accountancy course has 3 stages. These stages are:

1. Common Proficiency Test (CPT)

2. Integrated Professional Competancy Test (IPPC)

3. Final Course

Fees Structure :

Application voucher is of Rs. 1,000/- (for GEN).
For S.C. / S.T., O.B.C., P.H. candidates Rs. 300/- .

To join the Chartered Accountancy course you must clear your CA CPT Exam.
This examination is going to be held in the coming June and the notification will publish in the Newspapers in the month of February or March.

Chartered Accountancy course has 3 stages. These stages are:

1. Common Proficiency Test (CPT)

2. Integrated Professional Competancy Test (IPPC)

3. Final Course


Common Proficiency Test (CPT)

The first stage of Chartered Accountancy course basically is a written test. The exam is called Common Proficiency Test (CPT). Anyone interested in CA has to clear the CPT exam. CPT is 200 marks paper and you require 50 percentage or 100 marks to clear it.

1. Fundamentals of Accountancy

2. Economics

3. Mercantile Law

4. Quantitative Aptitude

The eligibility criteria for appearing in CA CPT exam.

1. You must have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent, from any recognized Board.
2. If you have passed B.Com, M.Com, LLB, ICWA, CS or MBA at the first
attempt that also means that you are eligible to apply.
3. Even if you appearing in your final year of the qualifying examination in your
degree you are eligible to apply.
4. If you have registered for CPT Course with Board of Studies of ICAI on or
before October 1, 2009 also you are eligible to appear in the entrance test
conducted on 2012.

I have just passed 10th and going to 12th. I want to oppt comerce withot maths because i am not good in maths. So plz advise me do I able to sit in cpt exam after passing 12th class and how can I score excellent in cpt? Mujhe kya kya karna hoga iske liye sab kuch bta do plz......

C.P.T. - Common Proficiency Test.

This examination is going to be held in the comming June and till now the notification did not published. Most probably the notification will come in the Newspapers in the month of February or March.

Fees Structure :

The cost the application voucher is Rs. 1,000/- (for GEN). For S.C. / S.T., O.B.C., P.H. candidates Rs. 300/- re-lactation is there.

Hello friend,
To be eligible for the Common Proficiency Test conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, you must have qualified +2 level of examination from a recognized board.
Every individual willing to pursue chartered accountancy course has to qualify the common proficiency test.

Dear Friend

The eligibility criteria for CA-CPT is as under.

Educational Qualification
12th or equivalent passed with recognized board.

For the upcoming CPT to be held in Decmber, one should be registered
for CPT course before 1st April, 2011.

If you have not registered for the course till now, you can't apply for the exam.
You should register on the time for the next exam.
