Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? I have varicocle and my age is 17 and i am in 12 the so can I go for merchant navy as a deck cadet if not can I go for surgery so can I join merchant navy after how many months ???(Thier is no pain in varicocle) |

Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? should the lasik surgery be older than 6 months at time of imu exam or admission in a collage for diploma in nautical science or when becoming a deck cadet........... pls reply cause i wanna join merchant navy but i have eye power -1.25 both eyes and i will be turning 18 in july so i am eligible for lasik after i am older or i am 18 years old and the imu cet exam is also in july pls reply at [email protected] |

Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? dear friend, it has been clear mention on the eligibility criteria that the color blindness is not applicable for the merchant navy. however in case of the other eye sight problem.if you have removed it by operation or any other means then you will be applicable. so no needs to worry. |

Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? you can appear for this exam after laser surgery if only if you have operated your eyes at least 6 month before of examination. your age limit must have not over 20 years. you can not wear spectacles ,After the surgery you must have 6/6 vision, otherwise you wont be eligible. |

But colour blind candidates are not allowed,so take a pre-checkup for that. so here you need to put efoorts to get job because there is a lot of confidence is in society so make a practice to get job good luck regards nagamalleswararao |

Dear friend, yes you can join merchanr navy after laser surgery.you can join as a deck cadet after laser surgery,though they are allowed to use specatles upto a limit of plus minus 2.5. but dear friend colour blind candidates are not allowed.so please have a checkup. wish you all the best!!!! |

Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? dear friend, it is not so important. but one thing have to keep in your mind the candidate should not be color blindness.if you are suffering form any other eye disease it may remove by operation but before 6 months. or you may use spectacle in +/- 2.5 . best of luck |

Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? Hello, Yes you can join the Merchant navy after getting the corrective surgery done. After the surgery you must have 6/6 vision, otherwise you wont be eligible. Good Luck! |

Candidates who have undergone laser technology is eligible to enter Merchant navy but the operation should be conducted before 6 months .Those who opt for navigation cannot wear spectacles.For other areas candidates with eyesight up to +/- 2.5 can wear spectacles.Aspirants should not be more than 20 years. |

Re: Is laser surgery valid for merchant navy? Yeah you can go for Laser Surgery. But remember before joining to Merchant Navy your Operation must be at least 6 months old. And also you must not suffer from any problem which may hinder in your way to Duty. |
