In India Students can mainly explore job options in the following fields- Drug and pharmaceutical research Public funded laboratories Chemicals Environment control Waste management Energy Food processing & Bio-processing industries. Yes of course you can pursue a B.Sc or a B.Tech in Biotechnology after you have completed 12th Biology. I suggest that it is a wise choice that you have taken to have a career in Biotechnology Field. Congratulations!! But I do have something to advise. Please do not stop with Undergraduation. I would rather suggest you to do your PG in Biotechnology after you graduate as you would be better equipped to face the competitive world. One kind advise that I would provide is that please do not pursue MBA after doing LIFE SCIENCE. I have a many of my friends who facing problems getting a job as they have completed MBA with B.Tech in Bio technology. Pursue a course of your choice. Think well before you can decide. All the best for your future. |

This will be added advantage if you have Biology subject in 12th as it is associated with Biotechnology. Besides this you can also do graduation in Microbiology, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics, Genetic Engineering Etc. The study in Biotechnology is more research oriented than job oriented one hence generally graduate Biotechnologist do MBA to get a good job in such type of Companies. |

If you are a candidate of having interest to pursue Graduation in Biotechnology, then it will be an added advantage for you of having Biology in your 12th class. Because some of the terminology and topics of Biotechnology, you may have gone through in your 12th Biology. Yes. The candidates are eligible to pursue Graduation in Biotechnology after completion of 12th Biology. In addition to this subject, they may also pursue Graduation with any of the following subjects. -Microbiology -Chemistry -Botany -Zoology -Biochemistry -Bioinformatics -Genetics -Genetic Engineering Biotechnology candidates find it difficult to get the jobs in good companies with good salaries after completion of their Graduation or Post Graduation. This is going on in real scenario. Many of the candidates who have done Graduation in Biotechnology are shifting towards to MBA in post Graduation rather than pursuing Biotechnology under Post Graduation. This is the situation as of now and definitely it will take several years of time for Biotechnology to develop well in India and to provide good job opportunities to the candidates. |

Re: Can I do graduation in Biotech after passing 12th Biology? Yeah sure. Biotech is an engineering stream which mainly deals with the technology which is of use in the biological fields. Like ENT equipment's, Gynecology, X-Ray machines etc. So since you have done Biology in your 10+2, you can take up your graduation in this field after passing class 12. All the Best. |
