The two year Presea training course for Diploma Holders (DME) is a course leading to Class IV Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of competency, awarded by the ministry of shipping Government of India, after six months of sea service, enabling the cadets to become Marine Engineers on board Merchant Naval ships anywhere in the world. This course is strictly residential. Eligibility Criteria Applicants should possess Diploma in Mechanical / Marine / Naval Architecture / Shipbuilding / Electrical / Electricl and Electronics Engineering with minimum of 50% in English at 10th or 12th std, or degree course . Age Limit - Maximum 28 years of age as on commencement date of the course. Physical Standards - Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000. Maximum permissible tolerance is + 2.5 on each eye. Color blind candidate is not eligible. Fee Structure Duration 24 Months (4 Semesters) Fees Rs 3,75,000/- Batch Commencing September each year. You can join the graduation courses meant for the deck cadets or shipping agents.. There are institutes like MERI,Mumbai, MERI,Kolkata, T.S Chanakya, Navi Mumbai etc. where you can pursue the courses. |

Hi, Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck). Officers 1.3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students. 2.4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students. 3.2 year course for Diploma Holders. 4.1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers. 5.3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students. You need to be medically and physically fir without any specs. |
